In Discovered Attack, Retta has a discussion with Alecks where he reveals that he’s received a custody petition from his step-aunt, Gina, who wants custody of Alecks’s sister, Sarah. During that conversation, Retta asks Alecks if she’s wearing her crown at the moment, trying to make him see that she’s talking to him as a friend, not as the queen. Alecks asks if she has a crown and she replies that she doesn’t know. After that scene, I wrote this scene from Retta’s point of view, then decided later that it didn’t truly add to the story, so I cut it out.
